The Occupation Museum (Besættelsesmuseet) tells the dramatic story between April 1940 and May 1945, when Germany occupied Denmark. From 1944 until the liberation of Denmark, Aarhus’ old town hall and later police station functioned as Gestapo headquarters, which has now been redesigned and transformed into The Occupation Museum.
With over 500 films produced, the preserved cells, basement and interactive art tell the macabre reality of resistance and nazi repression.
